Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party Book Tour

The Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party book is historic for its 100+ photos and 50+ oral histories. To date, the historic book tour has hosted 20 women from the book who shared their stories on panels, during book signings, and in conversations with the audience. I traveled to each of these events to document the events.

However, that did not feel like enough. I wanted to establish a marker for this moment during which women are speaking about their experiences in their own words. As a historian and content creator, I wanted to find a way to commemorate this historic book and tour. I designing a Comrade Sisters Women of the BPP t-shirt that lists the 2022 and 2023 event dates and locations on the back. I print, press, and ship each one with the care I have spent over the past 30 years doing BPP research and getting to know Party members and their families.
